Attempted Break-In Spotted on Avon Street

Wakefield Police responded to these and other calls for service on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
At 8:39 a.m. an accident was reported on the Route 129 rotary. State Police responded to the scene.
At 9:22 a.m. a man was reportedly lying on a bench near Church Street and North Ave., possibly in need of medical aid. He checked out OK and was sent on his way.
At 10:15 a.m. a caller requested a well-being check on a dog left in a vehicle on Yale Ave. The owner had returned and driven off by then.
At 12:51 p.m. police performed a well-being check on Washington Ave.
At 2:13 p.m. a caller reported that she had just witnessed a possible attempted break-in on Avon Street. The culprit reportedly attempted to enter the home by removing an air conditioner, and then left the area in an unknown vehicle. He was described as African-American and wearing a t-shirt that said BSSC Softball on the back.
At 2:59 p.m. an elderly man was reported driving on the wrong side of the traffic island on Main Street. He checked out OK and reported being unfamiliar with the area.
At 4:54 p.m. a found pocketbook was recovered and returned to its owner.
At 5:29 p.m. a caller reported some youths shooting a BB gun at the end of Avon Court. Police found them to be over the age of 18 and not breaking any laws.
At 6:28 p.m. a group of youths were sent on their way from a building on Nahant Street.
At 11:01 p.m. police checked on a report of a suspicious male on Main Street. He checked out OK.
At 11:07 p.m. police and rescue personnel responded to Wakefield Ave. for a report of a problem with an intoxicated male.
On Wednesday, July 17 at 2:01 a.m. police received a call from Morgan Ave. where a woman said she needed police and hung up. Further investigation found a problem between a woman and her boyfriend. Police arrested Robert C. Kelly, 19, 259 Albion Street, Wakefield, and charged him with Assault and Battery – Domestic, Assault and Battery, and being a minor in possession of alcohol, subsequent offense.
