Attempted Bank Robbery Reported In Downtown Wakefield

Male suspect in his 20s reportedly presented note at Santander Bank on Main Street. He reportedly left empty handed.

4:17 p.m. - This report on Woburn Patch notes that the suspect in the attempted Wakefield robbery possibly robbed a second bank in that city Thursday afternoon.

A man reportedly attempted to rob the Santander (Formerly Sovereign) Bank at 369 Main Street in Downtown Wakefield around mid-day Thursday.

In an email, Wakefield Police reported that the suspect, a man around 40 years old wearing a gray sweat suit, passed a note demanding money and stating that he had a weapon. The suspect reportedly showed no weapon during the incident and fled on foot without obtaining any money.

As noted in this report on Woburn Patch, a white male suspect robbed a Citizens Bank in Woburn early Thursday afternoon and is thought to be the same individual in the Wakefield incident.
