Warriors Track and Field Remain Undefeated with Win over Melrose

Underclassmen starting to show promise in Melrose win

The Warriors had a strong performance against Melrose on Thursday. They
were able to put up 101 points against Melrose and are now 2-0 in the Small
League and 3-0 overall.

We started the meet by placing 1st and 2nd in the 400m hurdles led by Captain Brett Tassinari and Senior Mitchell Severt. We then had Jared Geller run a great time of 4:45 in the mile which was good for second and qualified him for the state meet.  This is was also a 16 second improvement for Geller.  We then had the 4x100 meter relay led by Ken Chow, Jahad McNeill, Armin Palic and Shane Nelson to improve their time by almost 2 seconds and a come from behind to win.  We swept the 400m with Jonathan Miksis,  Jackson Gallagher, and Patrick Scheeler.  Gallagher is just a freshman and ran a great time of 55.5, improving his time by 3 seconds.

We also swept the 800 with Marc Bucchieri, Ryan Carey and (fr)Tyler Strauss.  In the 200m we had Anthony Lawson run an impressive time of 24.3 and placing second, he is only a sophomore and is close to qualifying for states.  In the 2 Mile, James Bridges easily won with a time of 10:24, just 4 tenths of a second from qualifying for states.   We got 1st and 2nd  in  the shot put with Jesse Cardoza who qualified for states with a throw of 42’5” and Ryan MacNeill.  In the Discus Joe Pacitto threw a personal best of 114’3. We swept the long jump with Jahad McNeill, Tassinari and Lawson. McNeill jumped a personal best with 18’3 ¾.  We also took the 4x400 relay with (Scheeler, Strauss, Mitchell, Gallager)  We face undefeated Burlington next week at Burlington.
