If You Can Only Have One Cat, Mindie is the One For You

Mindie Loves the Good Life of an Indoor Cat

Ahh…this is the good life.  I love lying around the house being adored and petted.  I love having all my meals provided and never having to be out in the heat, the rain, or the cold snow. Yes, I am a homebody sort of cat who found herself outside on her own.  I am so happy PAWS rescued me and gave me this wonderful life.

Well, sort of wonderful life.  You see I don’t have a real home.  Not yet anyway.  Right now I am living with a very nice foster family. But honestly, they have other cats.  Other cats make me very grumpy.  I hiss at them and make sure they do not come near me.  Ok, so I am a homebody and a people cat.  I don’t care how many people you have in the house, or what ages they are.  I just want to be your one and only feline.

Once you adopt me (you are going to adopt me, right?), I plan to settle right in.  At 8 months old I am a teenager, caught between the cuteness of kitten hood and the maturity of adulthood.  I may be an adolescent, but I am not a difficult one.  I love to bat around a catnip mouse or two, but as you can see, I really love to relax and hang out with you.

I will also follow you around the house and see what you are up to.  If you want to watch television, I will sit in your lap.  In fact, I will sit in your lap any time if you will pet my ears, my head, and under my chin.  Oooh, I love being patted.  I have really soft fur so you should also enjoy touching me.  And don’t worry about me shedding too much because I have short hair.  I am not one of the fluffy, floofy angora type felines that leave long hairs all over everything. In fact, I really do have impeccable house-cat manners.  I do not jump on counters or tables.  That is a very good trait in a cat and I notice the other cats in the house (who I do not like, did I mention that) seem to do that kind of thing all the time.

So you can see, I am the perfect house cat.  I will be your buddy and I will behave like the lady I am becoming.  When you are quiet, I will sit with you.  If you want to talk, I can carry on a conversation with my cute meow and lovely purr.  And if you want to play, I will chase a string or ball.  If you are too busy, I can stretch out for one of my power naps.  Or, I can bat around a catnip pillow until I am dizzy.  Here is a short video of me doing just that: http://youtu.be/7UaPkCF4p9A

You are going to adopt me, right?  You cannot resist my perfectness…or my modesty.  You really need a cat, I know, and if you are only going to have one, I am the perfect one to have. So grab your phone and dial up PAWS at (781) 246-6111 or PAWSwakefield@yahoo.com.  I know they are just sitting there waiting for you to contact them.  And don’t forget to ask for Mindie.  I at the Danvers PetSmart just waiting to meet you.

To learn more about Mindie or any of our other adoptable cats, kittens, or dogs, contact PAWS at (781) 246-6111 or PAWSwakefield@yahoo.com. You can also meet many of our available pets at our weekly adoption hours: Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital or at the Danvers PetSmart every Thursday and Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.  Last, but not least, we hold adoption hours at the PETCO in Woburn the first Saturday of every month from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.

Kitten Season is here and PAWS is having a KITTEN PARTY every Saturday at the VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital.  We are currently taking in many pregnant mothers and abandoned kittens and we really need you to come adopt so we have room for more animals in our foster network.  We also need foster homes, so if you are interested in fostering, please contact PAWs to get more information and an application.  The need is great and you can help now by adopting, fostering, or donating (kitten supplies are much needed and so are the funds to purchase them).

PAWS is an all-volunteer animal welfare organization.  Founded by the late Esther Nowell in 1982, PAWS responds to animal-related needs in many communities north of Boston.  Our top service areas include Wakefield, Lynnfield, Reading, North Reading, Saugus, Stoneham, Woburn, Winchester, and Malden.  Our mission is to promote and protect the rights and well-being of all domestic animals and wildlife, and foster a greater understanding of animal welfare and animal rights through education.  PAWS receives no local, state or federal funding.  Our budget is completely funded by our membership dues, adoption services, annual fundraising efforts, and kind donations from friends and members.
