Then And Now Photo Challenge: Mystery House

Twice a month, Wakefield Patch will run a contest on the site to see if you can guess where a historical building existed. So what's your best guess?

Where in Wakefield was this building? The first reader who can a) correctly identify the building or b) give the address of where it is now will win an awesome Patch water bottle or tote bag! (Your choice).

Leave your guess in the comments section! First correct answer wins the Patch prize.

Foundry street?
Nancy Bertrand November 15, 2011 at 04:35 PM
Good guess, Christine, but that's not it.
Andrew McRae November 15, 2011 at 05:54 PM
Any hints, Nancy? I am totally stumped by this one.
Nancy Bertrand November 15, 2011 at 06:02 PM
Okay, Andy: the house is no longer there. It's been replaced by 80's style condominiums.
Andrew McRae November 15, 2011 at 07:01 PM
Ahhh....I bet it's the one that was on Salem Street at the entrance to Heron Pond.
Andrew McRae November 15, 2011 at 07:02 PM
I believe the other house on the left is the one that's still there.
Nancy Bertrand November 15, 2011 at 07:17 PM
You're not there yet, Andy, but keep trying!

I think I know but I can't answer -- so COME ON Wakefield Residents GUESS!
Nancy Bertrand November 15, 2011 at 08:58 PM
Here is another hint... What I liked most about the photo were the barn and the animals behind the house-- very unusual for an almost downtown location. Guess the street!

This might be the first time everyone's stumped so far.. good job picking a tricky one this week, Nancy! (Full disclosure: I never have any idea what the answer is...)
Andrew McRae November 15, 2011 at 09:29 PM
Oh, it's an excellent one...I'm going to guess on Chestnut Street, on the left, a few houses before North Ave, where there is a condo building now.
Nancy Bertrand November 15, 2011 at 10:09 PM
Right again, Andy! This was 28 Chestnut Street- the home of Shep Berry, owner of Berry Moving Company. Thanks for playing!
Andrew McRae November 15, 2011 at 10:13 PM
That was SUCH a hard one. Now here's the embarrassing part...I used to deliver newspapers to THAT house before they tore it down! LOL! Thanks Nancy, that was the best one yet. Keep on giving us the difficult ones.
