MassEquality Endorses Jason Lewis in the Race to Replace Katherine Clark

MassEquality Joins Other Key Progressive Organizations in Supporting Lewis in the Democratic Primary for the 5th Middlesex State Senate Seat

Today, the campaign for State Representative Jason Lewis announced the endorsement of MassEquality, the leading statewide LGBTQ grassroots advocacy organization, adding the progressive group to a long list of key organizations unifying behind Lewis in the special Democratic primary to replace Katherine Clark.

“Jason Lewis has been a longtime ally of the LGBTQ community and has fought for the successful passage of legislation for the transgender community and for tougher anti-bullying protections,” said Kara Coredini, executive director of MassEquality. “He's done a phenomenal job at building the progressive movement in Massachusetts and his experience as a leader in the House will make him an excellent state senator in the 5th Middlesex District."

Last week, the campaign announced that Lewis had received the endorsements of, among other organizations, Mass Alliance, NARAL Pro Choice Massachusetts, and SEIU Local 509, as well as 25 current state legislators. Lewis’s support from such a broad range of organizations and individuals was attributed to both his years of effective progressive leadership in the House, as well as Rep. Chris Fallon, his main opponent, having a long record of supporting conservative Republicans and Republican policies.

“The mission of MassEquality embodies the values that I champion everyday on Beacon Hill,” said Jason. “I am honored to receive their endorsement and support in this important race, and look forward to our continued partnership, working together on issues important to the Commonwealth.”
