Things to Know: WHS Class of 2013 Fundraising Dinner at Prince Pizza

A few news tidbits worth knowing today including: community, schools, town and business. There's something for everyone!

Here are a few things worth knowing today, Thursday, June 7, 2012:

Weather: Today there's a 40 percent chance of showers with thunderstorms possible after noon. It will be partly cloudy with a high of 68 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. 

Schools: The Wakefield High School Class of 2013 host a fundraising dinner tonight at Prince Pizzeria on Route 1 in Saugus. Guests can have all the cheese pizza they can eat from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and then stick around for a comedy show starting at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $25 and the doors will open at 6:30 p.m.. Arts:  on Albion Street will be hosting a three-hour long artist reception tonight from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to showcase the work of Constance Festo Lafond. Silver Clay Gifts will have a month-long exhibition of Lafond’s work, including watercolors, oil paintings and old-fashioned photographs set mainly at the beach. The event is free and guests will be able to meet the artist, enjoy the art, sip some wine and eat some light refreshments.

Community: The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will host a special event tonight at the in which supporters who present a special ticket can have 25% of the bill donated back to the AFSP.

The Dockside Restaurant provides these “Dine for Dollars” tickets to organizations like the AFSP, and the organizations can then distribute them to supporters. If you are interested in picking up a ticket for yourself, you can find one at most convenience stores, or you can email wakefieldwalk@gmail.com to request one.

Community: Looking for a relaxing way to unwind after work? Stop by the plaza in front of the tonight for a free jazz concert featuring students and alumni from Boston’s Berklee College of Music.

Tonight’s show will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will be feature Eduardo Mercuri from Brazil.
