Popular Local Business To Be Featured On 'The Chew'

Wakefield business appears on ABC TV show Wednesday, December 11 at 1 p.m.

The Gingerbread Construction Company will be featured on the ABC TV show "The Chew" this Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m.

A production crew was at the Wakefield business last week to shoot a Christmas-themed segment on one of its specialties - gingerbread houses. In a recent conversation with Wakefield Patch, Gingerbread Construction Company owner Janet D'Orsi reported that the TV crew was there for about five hours.

D'Orsi also noted that this year, the Gingerbread Construction Company, which is also known for its muffins, cookies and other baked goods, will make about 6,000 gingerbread houses. She also noted that people do buy gingerbread houses at other times of the year, including to celebrate other holidays - including, in some cases, St. Patrick's Day.

D'Orsi and her husband John, who passed away about four years ago, started the business in their home back in 1981 and have since grown to the Wakefield location as well as one in Winchester. The Wakefield location has been at its site near the 128 rotary since 1995.
