The Kennedys and Fiddlin Quinn at Linden Tree Coffeehouse

The Kennedys (a bit of folk rock) with Fiddling Quinn

at Linden Tree Nov. 2

The Linden Tree Coffeehouse’s twenty-ninth season of acoustic
music continues on Saturday, November 2 with encore performance by American
folk-pop favorites Pete and Maura Kennedy. Opening the night is eight-year-old
Fiddling Quinn, a newcomer to the bluegrass scene.

In a career that now spans
two decades and over 12 CDs New York duo Pete and Maura Kennedy have traversed
a broad musical landscape, surveying power pop, acoustic songwriting, organic
rock rooted in their early days in Austin, and a Byrds-inspired jangle that
drew the attention of Roger McGuinn, Steve Earle, and most notably Nanci
Griffith. The duo co-produced Nanci's latest CD. Festival favorites, they not
only tour the US, but have had successful tours to UK and Ireland, asked back to
play a festival there again this fall.

On their own recent
release, "Closer Than You Know," the songs have a quality,
inherent in Maura’s voice, that is both soothing and urgent. As writers and
producers, the Kennedys continue to mature, from their early style-conscious
pop to today’s burnished sheen. Always tuned to their own muse, Pete and Maura
have once again come up with a unique sound that is as uplifting as it is
unclassifiable.

Eight-year-old Quinn Eastburn has been knocking audiences'
socks off for half his young life with prodigy fiddle chops and driving harmony
singing. He has jammed with the cast of Woody Sez in Boston and NYC, performed
at the Music at Port Milford festival in Ontario, played on WMBR in Cambridge,
and been featured at the New England Americana Festival. Quinn plays regularly
with the Arlex Five and Dime and in the summers can be seen surrounded by large
audiences while busking in Harvard Sq.
He plays many types of music but his current favorites are blues and
bluegrass. Already he knows about 150 songs from memory! His dad, Chris
Eastburn, will accompany Quinn.

Thanks to support in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council,
Wakefield Council, tickets will be $18, $10 for students under 13. Home made
baked goods and beverages will be sold prior to the show and during
intermission.
