Beginner Pilates Mat class

Geralyn Coopersmith Director of Equinox Fitness Training Institute in New York City says-

"Fitness pros say bigger benefits (than using weight machines)- more strength, increased stamina, & resistance to injury - comes from functional exercises that engage numerous muscles & mimic real-world movement. (Think boot camp, Pilates.... basic pushups & planks).  You can build specific muscles on weight machines, but that type of strength doesn't translate well to everyday life". ( March Vogue)

If you have been curious about Pilates or would like to get in better shape but not sure where to begin, this is the class for you.

Pilates works the whole body, emphasizing control, precision and concentration in both the mind and the body. The focus of the movements is on quality not quantity.
The abdominal muscles lower back and buttocks (“powerhouse”) serve as the center of all movement, allowing the rest of the body to move freely. Its six principles-concentration, control, centering, breathing, flow and precision-train the body to move efficiently.
