BARE BONES

Bare Bones comprises of musicians/vocalists Jay Martarano and Jim Lima.  They've performed together in a variety bands since the late 1980's.



Jay Martarano - Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Bass:  Jay grew up in Revere, Ma and relocated to Peabody in 1987. He first started out playing keyboards, performing in a couple of original bands and later became interested in playing bass. His early influences included Rush, Duran Duran, Yes, Chicago and local multi-instrumentalist and music teacher Michael Bean. Jay later performed with the Salem State Jazz Band playing bass, keys and percussion whilst under the direction of Dirk Hillyer.  Jay later sang and played a combination of bass, acoustic guitar and keys in various R&B, rock, cover, Portuguese, Italian and American wedding bands including Europa, Kool Change, Images, Imagine, Sergio Royal, Dangerous Grace, Sonic Evolution, Mystic Shakedown and Lightly Shakin' and Undercover.

Jim Lima - Acoustic and Electric Guitar, Vocals:  Jim is a life long musician & resident of the North Shore.  His first gigs began at the age of 7, playing acoustic guitar with his grandfather's trio in the Peabody area.  Jim was invited to join Kool Change at the age of 14 in 1984, playing events throughout the New England Portugese-American community.  He has also been lead guitarist for singer Sergio Royal for over the past 20 years.  Jim attended the Berklee College of Music, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Music in 1990.  Other bands Jim has performed with include Images, Town Crier, Mystic Shakedown & Lightly Shakin'. Today Jim works full time in the music industry for Cakewalk music software and also plays for the classic rock group The North Ave. Band.
