8 - A new play by Dustin Lance Black

For one night only, Quannapowitt Players take you behind the closed courtroom doors of the federal case over Proposition 8, California’s same-sex marriage ban, which is now on its way to the U.S. Supreme Court. “8,” a documentary play by Oscar-winning writer Dustin Lance Black, gets beyond the hype and the sound bites to present the legal arguments and witness statements from both sides, based on the actual transcripts of the case. A facilitated discussion will follow the staged reading, which features 20 of the area’s finest actors.

Featuring Mark Baumhardt, Samuel Bianchet-David, Derek Clark, Nancy Curran Willis, Shayne Doherty, Barbara Douglass, Gordon Ellis, Adam Heroux, Kendall Hodder, Johnny Kilcoyne, Kerry Anne Kilkelly, Shawn Maguire, Margaret McCarty, Jon Nuquist, John Pease, Karl Schmith, Brian Sensale, Elizabeth Sheeran, Bill Stambaugh and Ron Wackowski. Directed by Chip Sheeran. Produced by Elizabeth Sheeran.

Seating at Quannapowitt Playhouse is limited and reservations are recommended. Make your reservation today by emailing qp8theplay@gmail.com, or calling 781-942-2212.
