Your Guide to the 2011 Wakefield Italian Festival

Wakefield's Italian Festival takes place on Saturday, August 13 from 2 - 8 p.m. Check out what the vendors have in store.

The Wakefield Event Planning Committee presents the 2nd annual on Saturday from 2 - 8 p.m. in downtown Wakefield.

The portion of Main Street from Yale Ave to Richardson Street and Albion Streets will be closed off to traffic during this time for the festival.

Several vendors have provided further information on what - exactly - they have in store for the festival, whether it's food, art, costumes, raffles, prizes, or you name it.

At , there will be doggie cannolis, doggie biscotti, and Italian bandanas set up in a tent in front of the store.

, who is representing the Lombardi region of Italy (Milan) is offering up a complimentary gelato and other Italian treats! For the little ones, a coloring contest and a showing of Disney's Pinocchio on repeat all day.

At the table, spin the Wheel of Chance for a chance to win a gift certificate to a local business. You even get three spins for a chance at one of over 100 prizes.

The Event Planning Committee is also sponoring the Passport contest. Twenty businesses are representing the 20 different regions of Italy - your challenge is to visit 15 of the 20 regions, and get a stamp or signature to prove it. If your return your elligible entry card to the EPC booth, you can enter a drawing for a TBA prize. There's also another contest for children, a matching game using the geography of Italy. Whoever gets the most answers correct will be elligible for another kid's prize.

will be raffling off a Mr. Bar-B-Q four-piece forged tool set and a premiun grill cover. And word on the street is there's some good freebies!

At ., there are two promotions: Get your own personal Mona Lisa smile for just $5 (you'll just have to stop by to see what they mean), and enter a raffle to win one of two gift bags.

Don't miss the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce booth at 5 p.m. - that's when they'll be to one lucky winner! Only 300 tickets were sold for a chance at winning a 2010 Suzuki Kizashi, so chances are you'll know the winner.

Over at , the antiques and home furnishing store will be representing the region of Umbria. There will be hand-painted ceramic pieces, florentine gilded tables, ceramic art fruit topiaries, and many more examples of fine Italian craftsmanship. And if you're an Italian wine lover, enter the store's raffle for a chance to win a fine wine from Umbria and gift certificates to store.

, which is representing the Abruzzi region of Italy, will host an outdoor dining area where they'll be serving steak and cheese and chicken parmesan subs, along with beer and wine. Plus, every hour, the restaurant will draw a raffle winner for a gift certificate. 

At , you get a free Disney balloon! They'll also have coupons for a $25 gift certificate to your favorite Wakefield business when you reserve a trip of $2,000 or more.

Out and about on the street, there will be DJ's out in the street, a Sinatra impersonator, and Carmen Spada, an accordionist, who will help to set the Italian mood.
