Good morning, here are some things worth knowing in Wakefield this Monday, October 22, 2012.

Cradles To Crayons: State Senator Katherine Clark has announced a joint effort with Cradles to Crayons to help gather donated items for area children. Until October 26, collection boxes will be at the Greenwood School, 907 Main Street, Wakefield. Volunteers are also needed to help sort the items on October 27 at the Melrose Middle School on Lynn Fells Parkway from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call John at 617-722-1206 if you’re interested in volunteering.

First Descent Fundraiser: Here’s an item of interest to any young adult cancer survivor or their loved ones – on Wednesday, Oct. 24, nearby residents Amber and Craig Vaccaro are hosting a fundraiser at Grumpy Doyle’s, 530 Main Street in Reading, featuring live acoustic music and raffles, to benefit the First Descent program, which sends young adult cancer survivors on week-long outdoor adventures.  The fundraiser runs from 7 to 10 p.m. and the donation at the door is $10.

Work Out And Fight Breast Cancer: Real Fitness For Women at 60 Audubon Road in Wakefield is holding its second Zumba Dance Party for Breast Cancer Research on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. The event is open to members and non-members and a $10 donation is requested.
