Things To Know: Repertory Holding Auditions for 'Bye Bye Birdie' Tonight

A few news tidbits worth knowing today including: community, schools, town and business. There's something for everyone.

 

Here are a few things worth knowing today, Tuesday, June 19, 2012:

Weather: Today it will be mostly sunny with a high around 79 degrees. There will be some fog before 8 a.m. but it should abate before noon, according to the National Weather Service.

Arts: The Wakefield Repertory Theatre will be holding open auditions for “Bye Bye Birdie” tonight at 7 p.m. at the Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church.

Actors 12 and older are welcome to audition, and all roles
 are open. The Theatre requests that all prospective actors prepare 16-32 bars of two contrasting pieces in the
 style of the show, wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to dance.

"Bye Bye
 Birdie" will be presented at Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church 
on Sept. 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30. 
Rehearsals will take place in Wakefield on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday
 evenings. The show will be 
directed and choreographed by Diana Kole with music direction by Joseph Nuccio.

Schools: The School Committee will present its goals for the upcoming school year during its meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the WCAT studio.

In addition to presenting its goals, the Committee will also discuss some end of the year business, including an improvement plan for the High School, the committee’s system-wide evaluation and upcoming summer projects.

Education: The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library will be kicking off its Children’s Summer Reading Program today with an ice cream social. Bring your kids down to the library from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and enjoy some ice cream in the library’s lecture hall.

Hoodsies and toppings will be served and the event is free. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the library at (781)-246-6334.

Community: Looking to get in shape? Come to the Knights of Columbus tonight for Jacki’s Aerobic Dancing with Donna Morin. The program incorporates warm-ups, floorwork, weights and dancing and is an all-around fitness program.
