I think I am going to like you. Ok, that is easy, because I like everyone. And once I have met you, I will get very excited to see you again. Let's simplify this process. Adopt me and then I will get to see you all the time.
I do have a few requirements. I love to have my belly rubbed. So you will need to do that when I roll over for you, which will be all the time. I do have some tricks you might like: I can sit, lie down and offer my paw on command. I am also excellent on a leash and I love to go for walks. I bet I could learn some new tricks, too. That would be a fun thing for us to do together.
Ah, being with my own human is what I dream about. Recently, I got to go home for the weekend with one of the volunteers. I am told I was quite well behaved, even if I did beg a bit during meals. However, when I was not offered all that really good smelling people food, I gave up and decided to lie down on a big fluffy blanket. So, despite a few inner doggie desires, I can be a good dog when I need to be. For example, I was great at greeting everyone who came to visit.
The highlight of the weekend for me was that I got to sleep on the bed! I played it smart too, because I started the night at the bottom of the bed. As the evening went on, however, I slowly wiggled my way up until I was snuggled on the pillow by morning. I am quite the cuddle bug and no place is better for that then the bed. Well, I feel that way. If you felt differently, I think we could negotiate. I will start by telling you that in fact I am not that big, so I don't really take up much room.
Speaking of size, you may notice I am just a bit overweight. I am working on this with lots of exercise and good food. I expect to be fit and trim in no time at all, which is great for me since, at two-years-old, I plan to have a long, healthy life with my next family.
So that’s the scoop on me: Pumpkin. I am sweet, loving, and cuddly, with good manners—most of the time. I will stick by you because, honestly, humans are a dog’s best friend. Better than other dogs, sometimes. I don't like commotions, so a nice quiet home would suit me best. Does this sound good? If so, please call. I really want my belly rubbed and you might just be the perfect one to do it.
If you are interested in learning more about Pumpkin or any of our available dogs and cats, contact PAWS at (781) 246-6111 or PAWSwakefield@yahoo.com. Join us this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wakefield VCA for our second Kitten Party of the season. We have several litters of kittens ready for adoption and they all plan to attend our adoption hours this week, hoping you will come and fall in love. Come early because kittens go fast.
You can also meet some of our cats at our new adoption center at the Danvers PetSmart on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m., as well as at the Woburn Petco on the first Saturday of the month from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.
Last but definitely not least, it is kitten season and they are eating us out of house and home. Our PAWS foster parents would appreciate some donations of canned kitten food in the following varieties: Royal Canin, Blue Buffalo, Purina ProPlan, Innova, Wellness, Nutro, Evo, and California Naturals. Donations can be dropped at our office at 383R Lowell Street, Wakefield, or at adoption hours. Or you can donate money to our Feed the Kittens Fund c/o PAWS Wakefield, 383R Lowell Street, Wakefield MA 01880.
