Five Things You Need To Know: Jan. 9

A look at upcoming events and activities in and around Wakefield.

Today is Wednesday, January 9th. Here are five things to know.

Energy Efficient Homes: Tonight at 7 p.m., Beebe Library will offer a program on making your older home more energy efficient while retaining its historical character. Sally Zimmerman, Manager of Historic Preservation Services at Historic New England, will present a historic preservation perspective on insulation, window repair, air sealing, and renewable energy options in the older or historic home.

Basketball Fundraiser: The Wakefield Warriors girls and boys basketball programs are holding a comedy night fundraiser this Thursday, January 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Prince Restaurant in Saugus. All you can eat pizza is 6:45 p.m. with a comedy show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at the teams’ home games at the concession stand – or call, Paul Dickey at 978-423-8237.

Linden Tree Coffehouse: Saturday, January 12 at 8 p.m., Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen play folk music at the Linden Tree Coffeehouse at the Unitarian Church in downtown Wakefield. Tickets are $20. For more information, click here.

Fun and Healthy Beverages: Today at 3 p.m. over at the Lynnfield Library, nutritionist and cookbook author Anna Tourkakis gives a presentation on “Fun and Healthy Drinks.” Some possible selections, according to the library, include spiced hot chocolate and pomegranate cocktail. Anna will also provide recipes.
