New Play Coming Up: The Quannapowitt Players are putting on a new play by Dustin Lance Black, “8,” which focuses on the legal battle over California’s Proposition 8 same-sex marriage ban. Peter Hotton: Coming up on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m., Peter Hotton, longtime home and garden editor for the Boston Globe, presents “The Hazards and Hilarities of Fixing up an Old Home.”  This is part of the library’s ongoing “Do It Yourself” series of talks.

Saugus River Watershed Council: Coming up on Tuesday, January 29th from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Sheraton Colonial, the Saugus River Watershed Council presents “Lessons Learned From Hurricane Sandy: Protecting Watershed Resources in a Changing Climate.”  To register for the event, click here.
