Five Things to Know Today, Sept. 26

Dance Studio of Wakefield members selected to dance at Disney, there's a new police officer on the Wakefield force, the Board of Selectmen meets tonight, and more things to know today.

1. Showers  - Today there's a 40 percent chance of showers. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 77, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Today in Wakefield sports - boys varsity golf plays Swampscott at 3:15 p.m. at home, boys varsity soccer plays Wilmington at 6p.m. at home, girls varsity soccer plays Wilmington at 6 p.m. @ Wilmington.  

3. Dance news - Several dancers at the performed at party last week, and in two weeks, 68 dancers from the studio will perform in Downtown Disney World as featured guest performers. Dancers from age 8 to 18 will be performing. Wish them luck!

4. The Board of Selectmen - meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at , and they'll be welcoming several guests. Elizabeth Lowry of the Wakefield Alliance Against Violence will appear with a resolution, Jason Zerfas, of K of C, will present a Tootsie Roll Drive resolution, Rick Stinson, director of the DPW will appear to talk about second water meters, and Police Chief Rick Smith and Officer Ken Silva will be welcoming a new police officer, Officer Joseph Anderson, onto the Wakefield force. We'll have more on the new officer on the site later today.

5. Attention Galvin parents: Tonight is band rental night for Galvin students. Students will be able to rent instruments at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.
