Five Things: Lineup Announced for Plaza Jazz Concerts

A look at what's coming up in and around Wakefield.

Today is Wednesday, May 15th. Here are five things worth knowing today.

The Beebe Library has announced its schedule for the 2013 Plaza Jazz outdoor summer concerts. Each concert takes place out in front of the library on a Thursday evening through the summer, starting with Byron Manchest on June 6 followed by the Jussi Quintet on June 13. Tennis Team’s Car Wash Fundraiser: The Wakefield High School boys tennis team is having a fundraiser Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Flo’s Auto Bath on Water Street in Wakefield. Donations from the car wash will go to the team. Click here for more information.

The 9th annual Bowl-a-Thon for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham and Wakefield is this Sunday at the Wakefield Bowladrome, and there’s still time to get your team of up to four people involved. The bowler who raises the most money will even win Red Sox tickets. Click here for more information.

Famed Author's Birthday: Today at 3:30 p.m., the Lynnfield Library celebrates the birth of L. Frank Baum by reading an excerpt from “The Wizard of Oz.” No registration needed, and light refreshments will be served.
