5 Things: Jazz Night at WHS, a Passion Play

Five things worth knowing today, April 5, 2012, in Wakefield, MA.

1. A nice day - Today will be will be sunny with a high near 54 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Today in Wakefield sports - Girls varsity softball scrimmages Saugus at 3:30 p.m. @ Saugus, boys varsity lacrosse plays Belmont at 4 p.m. at home, and girls varsity lacrosse plays Belmont at 4:30 p.m. @ Belmont. 

3. Jazz night - As part of an upcoming student concert series, join Wakefield students at the WHS Center for Performing Arts for a night of swanky jazz music. The free concert starts at 7 p.m., and all are welcome. In other jazz news, the WHS Jazz Band competed at the State Finals this past weekend, finishing their competitive season with a High Silver Medal. Junior Caroline Andrews was recognized with the Outstanding Musician Award for the entire division. Way to go!

4. The Easter Spirit - The , (1 Church St.) will be presenting  "A Passion for the Christ" tonight and tomorrow night at 8 p.m. Performances are free and are open to all.
