Human Hibernation

The desire to venture outdoors gradually diminishes with every short, cold day that passes. With winter around the corner, people frequent their cozy living rooms and couches, beginning their winter hibernation.  Many indoor events this winter will be filled with family, food, and holiday cheer, but we cannot disregard our natural need for physical activity.

Regular exercise is a leading means of staying happy and healthy.  Children enrolled in school sports or after school activities often see added success in the classroom. Physical activity can improve mood and focus, so students are ready to absorb knowledge and adults are more prepared to work.

Other benefits of regular physical activity include strengthening bones and muscles, reducing your risk of heart disease, and reducing your risk of type 2 diabetes, and even certain cancers.
