My Place By the Sea, at the tip of Rockport's Bearskin Neck, Worth the Trip and the Price!

A gem on the ocean, My Place By the Sea at the tip of Rockport's Bearskin Neck is a pearl in the oyster of restaurant finds. Whether on the deck, porch or inside, the view is as glorious as the food.

A gem on the ocean, My Place By the Sea at the tip of Rockport's Bearskin Neck is a pearl in the oyster of restaurant finds. Whether on the deck, porch or inside, the view is as glorious as the food. The service is impeccable and not only are the menu offerings exquisite, they are artistically displayed.

For the pampered joy of being the honored guest at My Place By the Sea, village shoppers and sight-seerers can join local residents and shop owners for a delightful experience not easily reproduced elsewhere. This will go down in your little book of never-to-be-forgotten, five-star places to return to, even though the initial price check seems extravagant. It is well worth the investment to create memories for a lifetime, ones you will return to as often as possible.

Attentive service makes all the difference in this gorgeously decorated seaside retreat. Be prepared to enjoy the elegance that could be elevated to pretentiousness but rather blossoms into a warm glow of hospitality as owner Barbara Stavropoulos comes right to your table, several times, to assure you are delighted with your meal.

You will not be disappointed, whether just stopping in to rest your feet from walking the colony or celebrating a special event, it is come as you are at this gentle establishment run by Stavropoulos and her Chef business partner, Kathy Milbury. Their specially-created ambiance over the past 16 years has received accolades from Yankee Magazine, TV Diner Billy Costa and was featured on WCVB Boston's Chronicle program.

Our selections the evening we were there included planked cod, grilled sirloin steak and baked scallops.  All were presented with incredibly beautiful finesse. My scallops were nothing less than magnificent, served in a surprisingly delicious flavor combination of barbeque sauce on a bed of pureed sweet potatoes and oyster mushrooms. The center scallop was an amazing three inches across and half as thick, without even a bit of toughness for its size.

My fellow diners raved about their cod and steak as exquisite for their delightful quality, preparation and presentation. We enjoyed fantastically creative appetizers, fine wines and "to-die-for" desserts, as well.  The fabulous Coco Daniel and divine Warmed Apple Crunch were our selections, but there are also several totally decadent chocolate offerings, as well.

Nowhere have we been treated with such attention to detail and sincere warmth of hospitality.  This is the genuine item, if you are looking for a place to be treated like royalty amidst the relaxing ocean breeze and lapping waves and to savor the finest menu offerings prepared beyond your imagination of perfection.
