Wakefield Unemployment Rate Largely Unchanged Since Spring

Check out some of the unemployment rates in the Boston region and see how they compare to Wakefield.

Wakefield’s unemployment rate is well below the state average and it has also fallen noticeably since the first of the year.

As of the end of August, Wakefield’s unemployment rate stood at 4.7%, compared to 6.4% for the state.  Wakefield started 2012 with a 6% unemployment rate and saw that figure drop to 5% by the end of March.

Over the past five months however, Wakefield’s unemployment rate has barely changed at all. In April the local unemployment rate was 4.8% - and any monthly variations to that figure since have been only 0.1% either up or down.
