Tour of the Former Pleasure Island Park Site Sunday

Local author and historian Bob McLaughlin to lead walking tour of the former Pleasure Island amusement park site, which is now the Edgewater office park.

Local author and historian Bob McLaughlin has announced that he will lead his next walking tour of the former Pleasure Island amusement park site in Wakefield this Sunday, June 23 at 10 a.m.

McLaughlin has written several Images of America books on classic vintage amusement parks and in this article last winter on Lynnfield Patch he talked some more about the history of the former amusement park, which was open from 1959 until the end of the 1960s and which drew numerous prominent celebrities of the era.

According to the Friends of Pleasure Island website, the tour will meet at 10 a.m. in the first parking lot on the left at the Edgewater Office Park. McLaughlin does the tours about twice a year.
