Porchai Restaurant Closed, What Should Go There Next?

Former Thai restaurant near the downtown and the police station has closed. What would you like to see go into that space next?

Wakefield Thai restaurant Porchai apparently closed its doors recently. The spot behind the Alano building near the police station has a "for rent" sign in it, with another Thai restaurant, Phuket, only steps away. And as Porchai said farewell to the local restaurant scene, another new restaurant, Sakura Organic, opened its doors downtown within the past week. Read more about it here

That said - Wakefield's got a pretty good selection of restaurants for a town of its size. But what would you really like to see go in to the space formerly occupied by Porchai? Is there some kind of food that's not represented in the local restaurant scene, or which needs to be done better? Share your thoughts in the comments box below!

Porchai was a good restaurant and one can only speculate that the reasons for its failure included having too few tables, difficult parking, and poor location. With that said, we could probably use an independent, sort of upscale coffeeshop/baked goods establishment. It goes without saying that we do not need another sub shop, pizza parlor, nail shop, hair salon or "italian style" place.

Agree No more pizza and sub shops. Local Coffee House with local art, history culture and most important good coffee and perhaps some pastry too.
