Wakefield resident Kirsten Manville has released her first solo CD "Come With Me," with a release show set for this Thursday, January 30 at the West Lynn Arts and Business Center, 104 Woodman Street in Lynn.

In a recent conversation with Wakefield Patch, Manville said that her new CD features 10 songs that she started writing back in 2011. The recording process took about six months. Manville sings and plays guitar on the album, which she says is folk rock with electric and acoustic songs. Some of her own all-time favorite singers are Marty Stuart, Alison Kraus, and Matraca Berg.

Manville, who grew up in Reading, said that she has performed at various venues around the Boston area, Maine and New York, often with recording partner Dave Simmons. She also spent six years living in Nashville, performing at local coffee shops and learning various details of the music and songwriting business.

Regarding the new CD, Manville said that the title "Come With Me" reflects the emotional journeys people often find themselves on in life. "I hope people listen to it and kind of relate and realize that we're more alike than we're not," said Manville.

After Thursday evening's CD release show in Lynn, Manville said that she will focus on lining up some additional solo gigs in the area while also working to build up some radio play.
