Standing Room Only Concert Series Announces 2013-14 Season

First SRO concert of the new season is Saturday, October 19 with Cory Pesaturo and his global music trio.

The following was provided by the Standing Room Only concert series:

The Standing Room Only (SRO) concert series invites music lovers to subscribe to the 2013-2014 season, “Back By Popular Demand.”  All concerts take place at 326 Main Street, Wakefield, Massachusetts, the Unitarian Universalist Church. Proceeds from the series benefit The Building Fund.

The SRO season begins on Saturday, October 19 with the return of the incomparable Cory Pesaturo and his global music trio, continues with the annual Candlelight Christmas on December 22 and a Valentine program on February 14, and culminates with the popular New England Brass for the season finale.

“Our fifth season features performers whose return audience members have requested, to put it mildly – more like clamored for,” said SRO producer Peter Stickel. “Cory Pesaturo and colleagues also opened our second season and the audience was stunned at the virtuosity and range of styles, something we’ll never forget. Since then Cory has added to his digital world championship, the world acoustic and the world jazz accordion championships. Holding these three titles along with his other accomplishments supports the case that he is the best of all time on his instrument. Alternating with his solo turns, his Zulu Time trio offers another rich, exotic world music tour. Forgive the cliché, but it is not-to-be-missed!”

On Sunday, December 22 the New England Tenors return, joined by mezzo-soprano Holly Zagaria, a perennial audience favorite, for a “Candlelight Christmas” concert, once again combining classical masterpieces with seasonal favorites.

For Valentine’s Day – February 14, 2014 – artistic director Mark Morgan of New England Light Opera showcases the great American love songs from the 20’s to the 60’s. Celebrated soprano Jean Danton, Boston theatre superstar Leigh Barrett and IRNE award winner Brian De Lorenzo join Mark for an evening of mirth and melodrama.

The season culminates with blast on Saturday, April 26 with the return of New England Brass, fresh from their Spring tour.
