Enjoy Halloween With Some Home-Grown Horror Movies From Wakefield's Own

Homemade horror movies from Wakefield High School students and some faculty can be viewed on the Visual Arts Program's Youtube channel.

Wakefield’s Fright Night celebration features a big pumpkin display, downtown trick or treating – and homegrown horror movies created by students (and some faculty) at Wakefield High School. Those who attended last week’s Fright Night had the opportunity to check out this year’s films at the Galvin Middle School.

For those who couldn’t make it last week, the Wakefield High School Visual Arts Program has links to its horror films on a Youtube channel, some of which go back as far as 2006.

This year’s movie topics touch on everything from a scary road trip, a zombie apocalypse, an evil shadow being, a UFO attack, the "creepy hallway," cannibalism in the cafeteria and a hideous supernatural entity known as the “Cash Flinging Rapper.” Another video shows a man who's suddenly cursed with - His Own Personal Narrator. There’s even a few evil clowns in the mix. In other words – What’s not to like? There's also a few one-minute shorts that can be viewed at the WHSTV15 Youtube Channel.

That said - Some Wakefield High School faculty returned to the digital screen for a sequel to 2012's  18-minute "When You Stare Into The ABerecz" where some teachers find themselves getting trapped in a variety of popular movies all so an evil genius can get himself permanently transported into the '60s surfing movie "Endless Summer." What's an ABerecz? Teacher Jonathan Berecz seems like he might know something about it.

The 2013 followup to "When You Stare Into The Aberecz" is simply called "Sequel." And it's as highly entertaining as its predecessor, with the return of the villainous genius Berecz and classic lines like "I'll call (Pat) Brennan. He's been through everything. He went to the first Lollapalooza." Along with Brennan and Drinkwater, Chris Constantine and Jimmy Martin were actors in the production, written by Drinkwater and produced by Berecz and Constantine.
