Mark your calendars for the 6th annual Blossoms at the Beebe, a Great Gatsby-era celebration with flowers, silent and live auctions, tastings and music to benefit the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library and the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, April 27th.
The two organizations will join together to sponsor the event from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Library, located at 345 Main Street in Wakefield. Proceeds from the event will go to the Beebe Book Fund and the Chamber’s community and civic projects.
“This year we wanted a different theme to our event and we will celebrate the Great Gatsby- era,” Blossoms at the Beebe Chair Susan Wetmore said. “There will be new features to the event, and we’re excited to showcase the glamour and uniqueness of that era. If folks want to dress in the era, we would welcome that, too. Watch the website www.blossomsatbeebe.com for more updates”
A second event, a free family fun day, sponsored by The Savings Bank, will showcase the floral displays and creative efforts of local photographers on the following day, Sunday, April 28th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Arts and crafts activities and a scavenger hunt are also planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The evening event will feature creative flower displays designed by local florists and floral enthusiasts. A variety of Gatsby-era cocktails, wine and beer will be featured during the tasting, with hors d’oeuvres, music on both levels of the library and a cash bar. All who attend the Saturday evening event must be 21 years or older.
This year’s festivities will include a silent auction that begins online on April 1st. Bidders will be able to place their bid online at https://www.biddingforgood.com/blossomsatbeebe until April 24th.
Anyone who would like to donate a service or item to the online and/or silent
auction, or would like additional information about the auctions, can contact Diane
Mulcahy at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 781-246-7514.
Tickets for Blossoms at the Beebe are $35 per person ($40 at the door) and ticket sales will begin on March 15th. Tickets can be purchased at the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library, or online at www.blossomsatbeebe.com. The previous five Blossoms at the Beebe were well attended and this year looks to be another sellout.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available and donations of silent auction items are welcome. Sponsorship information can be obtained by calling Chamber Directors Lawrence Andrews at 781-224-3564 or Chris Barrett at 781-245-5011.
