An Evening of A Cappella Music Coming Up

The CPA is hosting an Evening of a Cappella at Wakefield High School on Wednesday, November 28 at 7 p.m.  The concert will be the first event held since the announcement of the theater’s new name –The Savings Bank Theater – in recognition of TSB’s recent major donation to the CPA and their long standing and continued support of arts in the community.

Enjoy the music and dance moves of the Dartmouth Cords, one of Dartmouth College's premier all-male a cappella ensembles. Wakefield native and Dartmouth senior, Andrew Hannigan, will lead the Cords as they perform a variety of music including rock, pop, hip-hop, and holiday favorites. The Cords arrange their own music and choreography, and perform at on-campus venues for Dartmouth’s student body and alumni, at multiple US high schools and colleges throughout the northeast, as well as internationally on a recent trip where they shared the joy of a cappella while on tour in South Korea.  Known for pleasing audiences and wearing lots of corduroy, you are sure to be entertained by this engaging collegiate group.

You also will be treated to the musical harmonies of the North Shore’s Blue of a Kind, a men's a cappella ensemble that presents lively arrangements of songs exploring the genres of jazz, blues, gospel, sea chanteys, folk, spirituals and popular music. Blue of a Kind consists of musicians that share a passion for performing and blending their voices as one, enriching audiences and singers alike. Blue of a Kind has serenaded baseball fans at Fenway and various politicians and dignitaries throughout the area with "Walk Humbly Son" and "America the Beautiful".  The group performs for audiences across the North Shore and graciously lends their voices to assist with local fundraising events. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors and are available at the door, at Smith’s Drugs in Wakefield or by calling Lisa at 781-246-3008.  Net proceeds will support The Center for Performing Arts in retiring the remainder of the loan used for the theater’s construction completed in 2010.
