The following is an announcement from Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield:
Join members of Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield for an inclusive, participatory, spiritual, upbeat musical Shabbat on Friday evening, December 7th at 8 pm.
The service will have complete transliteration as well as contemporary translation, beautiful commentary and interpretations. This service also has beautiful songs and melodies that are user friendly as well as traditional favorites. It is intended to be more meaningful, joyful and spiritual without significant changes in ritual.
Organizers would like to encourage area residents to experience a Jewish Shabbat service that while still traditional is also contemporary, a service that is totally inclusive with voices rising as one. Music stirs the soul and touches people in a way that words simply cannot. The service is constructed to allow for everyone's participation and was designed by congregants of Temple Emmanuel.
Following the service we will have a special Oneg to celebrate Shabbat and our efforts as a community. Additional dates for Shabbat Shira are planned for the first Friday of the following months: January 4, February 1, March 1, April 5, May 2, and June 7.
Shabbat Shira will be held in Weizmann Hall, on the second floor of Temple Emmanuel, 120 Chestnut Street, Wakefield, MA. There is a chair lift to the second floor. For more information: Leave a message at 781-245-1886 or www.WakefieldTemple.org
