The First Universal Society began as a progressive church in 1813 and operates today as the Unitarian Universalist Church of Wakefield serving Wakefield, Stoneham, Lynnfield, and Saugus with members and friends in many surrounding towns.  The historic building continues to challenge the church community with its many needs for repairs and maintenance. Church members are proud of the way the building adds to the charming New England style landscape of Wakefield’s downtown and continue to strive to preserve it.
