4th Annual Festival Italia Coming Up Soon

Popular Wakefield event features activities on Friday, Aug. 16 and Sat. Aug, 17.

The following was provided by Wakefield's Event Planning Committee:

Don’t have time to venture into the North End to attend an Italian Feast?  Members of the Event Planning Committee, in collaboration with many local businesses and restaurants are busy making plans for the Town of Wakefield’s 4thnd Annual Festival Italia, a two-days event scheduled for Friday, August 16 and Saturday, August 17.

An over 21 dinner is planned for Friday, August 16 at the Sheraton Colonial North.  Tickets are $30 and will go on sale after June 17. Tickets are available at the Wakefield Daily Item, Greenwood Wine & Spirits, and Smith Drugstore.

On Saturday, August 17 a portion of Main and Albion Streets, lined with tents and display tables, will be closed to traffic from 2-8 in order to create a feeling of being at an authentic neighborhood street festival without leaving Wakefield.  Italian foods from local establishments (to date Harrow’s, Laurie’s 909 Raw Bar & Steakhouse, Polcari’s, Big Jon’s Pizza, PortoBello’s and Swiss Baker will be joining us).  Also, music, street vendors, and entertainment in a family-friendly atmosphere will be the theme of the day.  Many activities for adults and children have been planned for your enjoyment; a rock climbing wall, a Beer Garden, a performance by Valerie Giglio, and the Jazzbelles (a 40’s swing band) will be joining the event.    Returning will be the ever-popular Candy Shack, photo opportunity, Kris’ Kernels, and Wheel of Chance.
