Representative Donald H. Wong to participate in key budget hearings throughout the Commonwealth as a member of Ways & Means Committee

State Representative Donald H. Wong (R-Ninth Essex District), a member of the Joint Committee on Ways & Means, will travel to several cities and towns in the Commonwealth during the next month where he will hear from a number of key agencies and departments as part of the Fiscal Year 2015 Budget Hearings. The hearings began with presentations by Administration and Finance, Constitutional Officers and the Inspector General at the State House on February 4th and will conclude with a public hearing back at the State House on March 7th.

As a member of the Joint Committee, Representative Wong traveled to the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown on February 10th where he heard from several departments within Health and Humans Services, and to the Montachusetts Technical School in Fitchburg on February 11th regarding Public Safety, District Attorneys, Sheriffs and Judiciary.

Representative Wong will travel with the Committee to UMass Amherst on February 25th to hear from Education and Local Aid agencies and staff, and to Dedham Middle School on February 28th where he will hear from other departments within Health and Human Services. The March hearings will be held at the South Shore Vocational School in Hanover on March 3rd (Economic Development and Housing, Labor and Workforce Development, Libraries and Cultural Council), and at Everett High School on March 4th (Environment and Energy, Transportation EOEEA.)

“Although participation at these budget hearings is limited to the agencies and committee members, I encourage my constituents to contact me at 617-722-2488 or via e-mail at donald.wong@mahouse.gov with any concerns and questions they may have, or to consider attending the public hearing at the State House on Friday, March 7th,” Representative Wong said. “I will address any concerns that are brought to my attention with the appropriate agencies.”

In addition, Representative Wong will hold office hours on February 14th at the Saugus Town Hall, 298 Central Street from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and at the Wakefield Town Hall, One Lafayette Street from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.
