Marianne Cohen appointed Executive Directore of Wakefield Area Chamber of Commerce

The Board of Directors of the Wakefield Area Chamber of Commerce has appointed Marianne Cohen to the position of Executive Director. Cohen, a resident of Wakefield, was selected following a comprehensive search conducted by members of the Board of Directors.

 In announcing the appointment on behalf of the Board of Directors, co-Presidents Suzanne Bowering and Cheryl Carroll cited Cohen’s experience in marketing, consulting, product development, relationship building, as well as sales, management and event planning. She has served as Vice President – Marketing and Product Development and Senior Consultant with Mannersmith Etiquette Consulting of Marblehead, and as Event Planner, Director of Corporate Membership and Marketing, and Director, Visitor Services and Promotions for the USS Constitution Museum in Charlestown.

Cohen has also been associated with Conference Development, Inc., LifeCycle Learning Resources, Inc., and Bank of New England.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester, and received her Certificate in Management Studies in Marketing.

Her volunteer experience includes working in various capacities with Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, the Phi Sigma Sigma  Foundation and Fraternity, and the Rochester Meliora Club of Boston.

 “We look forward to working with Marianne Cohen as our new Executive Director,” the co-Presidents said. “Marianne’s experience in project management, coupled with her organizational skills, will benefit Chamber members, our member communities and local business.”

“I am pleased to join the Wakefield Area Chamber of Commerce,” Marianne said. “As a 16-year resident of Wakefield, I look forward to this opportunity which will enable me to draw upon my familiarity with Wakefield and the surrounding communities for the betterment of local business.”
