Lakesiders Toastmasters Learn the Secrets of Mentoring

The Lakesiders Toastmasters Club hosted a mentoring workshop on October 28th in the Americal Civic Center.  The workshop, "Demystifying the Mentor/Mentee Relationship", was presented by fellow toastmaster Liz Benson, ACS, ALB.  The workshop will be delivered at several area Toastmasters clubs, with the Lakesiders being the first to receive it.

Ms. Benson, who is a  professional Motivational Speaker and Trainer,  presented  tips and techniques for being an effective mentor.  One of her favorite ideas is to "grow as you go", by combining practice and feedback to continually improve.
Liz described the rewarding experience she has received as a mentor, and cited several examples in which Toastmasters mentees have undergone dramatic transformations as they became more comfortable and confident with speaking.

Liz Benson is a resident of Groveland, MA, and has been an active member of Toastmasters International, District 31 for nine years, where she is a past Division Governor.  Her business, Groveland Relationship Marketing Group, helps businesses and individuals make sustainable connections.

The  Lakesiders Toastmasters Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month from 7-9pm at the Americal Civic Center (Heritage Room), Wakefield MA.
