BRING ON THE SEASON! 5th Annual 'Tis the Season Holiday Hat Parade and Stroll

The Wakefield Event Planning Committee has planned a fun-filled day for its 5th Annual 'Tis the Season Holiday Hat Parade and Stroll on Saturday, December 7th, from 3-7 p.m.

The day will begin at 1 p.m. at the Americal Civic Center. Bring the kids down to take part in activities and refreshments. Pick up your Holiday Tote bag and Coupon book, which offers many merchant discounts. The parade will begin promptly at 3 p.m., led down Main Street by the Wakefield High School Marching Band, and ending at the Beebe Library where the band will play some holiday favorites. Dance teams, Santa, state and town dignitaries as well as adults and children will join in the parade. We encourage all to participate in this great event.

After the parade, visitors can take a horse drawn carriage ride up and down Main Street, enjoy the warmth of fire pits, and view the Festival of Trees located at the Civic Center. Have the kids visit with Santa, and then drop their wish list into Santa's Mailbox. The Candy Stop is always a treat for all, and who can resist taking in the beauty of ice sculptures.

Musical entertainment will be evident throughout the event. The WROR Street Team (105.7) will be joining us. We also have a lineup of some great local talent to create that "holiday" feeling including: WHS Carolers, Dickens Carolers, Wakefield Music, local favorites Valerie Giglio, Audie Bridges, Carissa Scuderi and Kevin Moore. The award winning Nazareth Academy Trinity Choir, Wade Parsons and Sweet Treble A Capella will also be performing. Look for the full entertainment schedule available online after December 5th.

For kids and adults alike, we have Twisted Magic, Hot Sauce, Lucky Bob, Face Painter, Balloon Artist and holiday "goodies" form many of the merchants.

"The Holiday Stroll is a great family activity," says Chairman Paul DiNocco. "It happens to be early enough to allow for all family members to participate. Great place to enjoy the festive trees, shopping, and dining in local restaurants. The kids have an opportunity to see Santa, and all can enjoy shopping, taking a horse-drawn carriage ride, and enjoy meeting up with friends and neighbors. You can do all of this without leaving Wakefield. See you on December 7th."
