Two Different Author Events at Beebe Library Wednesday

A look at what's coming up in and around Wakefield.

Today is Wednesday, Nov. 13. Here are five things worth knowing.

Two authors are scheduled to speak at different times at the Beebe Library today. Former Wakefield High School Teacher Emily Cummings discusses her new book “Spirit Legacy” at 3:30 p.m. in the lecture hall. At 7 p.m., Jeremy D’Entremont, author of “The Lighthouse Handbook: New England” will speak.

Town Business: The Board of Selectmen meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the WCAT Studios.

This Friday at 7:30 p.m., Wakefield’s Unitarian Universalist Church is having a “Rise Up Singing” event. Singers and instrumentalists of all ages are welcome to join in some informal music making. Learn more about it here.

Wakefield resident Kelsey Bevins is performing in the contemporary musical “Next To Normal” at the Vokes Theatre in Wayland on various dates in November. Learn more about it here.

Historian and author Anthony Sammarco will discuss his new book “The History of Howard Johnson’s: How a Massachusetts Soda Fountain Became a Roadside Icon” on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Meeting House (617 Main Street).
