'Lost Art of Etiquette' At Beebe Library Tonight

A look at what's coming up in and around Wakefield.

Today is Tuesday, October 22. Here are five things worth knowing today.

Megan MacNeil of Historic New England speaks tonight at the Beebe Library at 7 p.m. on etiquette through history. This is part of the ongoing observation of Civility Week in Wakefield. More information is at this link.

On Thursday, the  town’s annual Fright Night celebration, featuring the annual carved pumpkin display, will be on the front steps of the Beebe Library starting at 6 p.m.

Coming up on Sunday, October 27 starting at 5 p.m., it’s the New England Scholastic Band Association (NESBA) Marching Band Festival at Landrigan Field at Wakefield High School. The competition features 14 bands, including the NESBA Champion WHS Warrior Marching Band performing music by the Dave Matthews Band.

Town Business: The school committee meets at 7 p.m. at the WCAT studio. The planning board meets at 7 p.m. in the first floor conference room at town hall.

The Wakefield Parent Partnership reports that it has arranged for Dr. Tina Payne Bryson, co-author of the book “The Whole Brain Child,” to speak and sign books at Galvin Middle School Wednesday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. They can be purchased in advance at WakefieldParentPartnership.org.
