Car Show and a Jazz Concert In Town Today

A look at what's coming up in and around Wakefield.

Today is Thursday, August 22. Here are five things you need to know.

There’s a car show today at Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center, 1 Bathol Street, from 4 to 6 p.m. Proceeds will raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., Kevin Andrews’ Spontaneous Groove Machine performs the latest Plaza Jazz concert. The concert series wraps up for the summer next Thursday, Aug 29 with Yuto Kanazawa.

At 10 a.m. several dozen stores and eateries at MarketStreet are expected to mark their grand opening, with more places expected to open throughout September and October. More information can be found on the official MarketStreet Lynnfield website

Town Business: The next school committee meeting is Tuesday, August 27 at 7 p.m. at the WCAT studio.

Diabetes Lecture:  Karen Orband, R. N. will be at the Lynnfield Senior Centerto discuss diabetes, what it is and some treatments. Thursday, Aug. 29th at 12:30. Free. Please sign up. Lunch is served at 11:30 for $2.00/$3.00. You must sign up for lunch by noon the day before. Depending on interest, this will be a monthly discussion.
