Back to School:  Today is the first day of the 2013-2014 school year in Wakefield. The official school year calendar for the year can be viewed at this link on the school district website.  

Roosters, an upscale men’s grooming salon, is among the newest businesses at MarketStreet Lynnfield. There’s a grand opening celebration with the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce today from 4 to 6 p.m. A portion of the opening day proceeds from Wednesday will be donated to Reid’s Ride, the annual 28-mile bike ride from Lynnfield to Gloucester that has raised a considerable sum to fight cancer in young adults.

The Wakefield Choral Society is holding an open rehearsal Monday, September 9 at the Wakefield High School music room from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Open rehearsals are also reportedly scheduled for Monday, September 16 and Monday, September 23.
