Author of 'Whole Brain Child' At Middle School Tonight

A look at what's coming up in and around Wakefield.

Today is Wednesday, October 23. Here are five things worth knowing today.

The Wakefield Parent Partnership reports that it has arranged for Dr. Tina Payne Bryson, co-author of the book “The Whole Brain Child,” to speak and sign books at Galvin Middle School Wednesday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. They can be purchased in advance at WakefieldParentPartnership.org.

There’s a flu clinic today at Galvin Middle School from 7 to 8 p.m. Vaccine is $10 for those without one of the accepted insurances. For more information call 781-979-4127.

Each Wednesday, the Mystic Runners hold a run/walk around Lake Quannapowitt. The run begins at 6 p.m. with registration in the Lakeside Room at the Clarion Inn on North Ave. More here.

On Thursday, the  town’s annual Fright Night celebration, featuring the annual carved pumpkin display, will be on the front steps of the Beebe Library starting at 6 p.m.

Looking ahead to next Tuesday, October 29,  Hugh Hanley performs a children’s Halloween concert at 1 p.m. at the Beebe Library lecture hall. Costumes are encouraged.
