Lucius Beebe Memorial Library, 345 Main St, Wakefield, MA | Get Directions »

Beebe Library is hosting talks on technology in the coming month by Elizabeth Thomsen, the Member Services Manager and one of the tech gurus at the North of Boston Library Exchange, a.k.a. NOBLE – the consortium of which Beebe library is a part.

Elizabeth is the wizard behind the curtain when it comes making technological things happen at NOBLE. She is an enthusiastic student of trends in technology, especially those that affect librarians and library users.

Elizabeth will address social networking, and in particular Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. Among other things she’ll be talking about how to protect your privacy on Facebook, the separation of your personal and professional roles (i.e. Facebook or LinkedIn?), and how to use some of those hidden settings so that you can keep in touch with your friends without being flooded with annoying Farmville messages and quizzes.

Or maybe you have questions about which combination is better for yourself or your organization: Twitter and Facebook, Facebook and Flickr, or all three? This tech talk will provide a forum for discussing those questions and more.

Please sign up at the Reference Desk, by calling us at 781 246 6334, ext. 2, or by emailing us at wakefieldlibrary@noblenet.org.
