On Monday, December 10 at 7 p.m. Kenneth C. Turino of Historic New England presents his well-illustrated lecture tracing the celebration of Christmas from 17th Century New England through the beginning of the 20th Century. Discover how Christmas evolved from an outlawed observance to a family-centered event - and everything in between. He will discuss how the Christmas Tree became popular, halls were decked and Santa Claus came to town.

Kenneth C. Turino holds a MA degree from George Washington University and has worked at the Paul Revere House, Smithsonian Institution and most recently as the director of the Lynn Museum for over 14 years. He lectures frequently on the history of Christmas and has published several articles on the celebration of Christmas.

Originally built in 1922, the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library, named after the first chairman of the Board of Library Trustees, has undergone several expansions and renovations over the years. The library has thousands of books, CDs and DVDs for use to the general public, and offers a wide array of adult, young adult and children's programs. The library also serves as a meeting place for support and community groups.
