On Columbus Day, October 10th, almost 100 kids, 14 and under, spent their day off from school competing in the First Annual 1 Mile Fun Run. The race started and finished at the lower common prior to Harrington's Road Race.
Carmen Sorentino was the first boy to complete the mile race in 5:59. Caroline Morrison was the first girl to finish in 6:39.
In addition to the winners, medals were presented to Matt Greatorex, Joe Casale, James Casale, Robert Shaw, Josh Ell, Ryan Ritchie, Dominic Conte, Jay Fitzgerald, Carter Margolis, Colin Jaena, Ryan Marcus, Bridgid Scanlon, Mikayla Ledoux-Walsh, Fiona Heffernan, Lillian Jones, Casey Kearny, Olivia Juneau, Celia Casale, and Retta Carrol.
The kids also enjoyed face painting and potato sack racing after their mile run.

It was great! May be have some agre groups with a turnout like that next time? just a suggestion! Can you tell me where a child could get there medal if they had to leave prior to them being awarded. Thank you!

Colin should have received a medal. If you let me know what school he is at, I can get it to him. If he is at the Galvin vs. Melrose meet on Monday at the high school, he can see me.

My children had an awesome experience! Great turnout for the first event, Mr. Pappas did a great job promoting the race to the children! I think it will be even bigger next year! Next year i would organize the finish line a little better to avoid the confusion. It was a beautiful day for a fun event!
