We are pleased to have the very talented Kevin G. Moore back once more to play his original songs and creative covers at the market this week. His songs range from popular 60's and 70's singer/songwriter genre to classic American folk music. Holly Pierce, our favorite Private Chef/Instructor of Sweet Thing Food will be back again with yet another super Cooking Demonstration! She will create quick, easy, and delicious recipes that even kids will like from the produce and other foods she will purchase that morning at the market. As always, Holly will have samples for you to try.
Our nonprofit guest, Wakefield Rail-to-Trail Committee, will have the latest updates on their project of transforming the abandoned rail line that runs from the Junction in Wakefield through Reedy Meadow in Lynnfield into a bike, walking, and running trail. Be sure to stop by and say hello!
The vendor roster for this week includes all 6 of our farmers and 12 of our food vendors, as well as both Kaleidoscope Soap and Wicked Good Soap for a total of 20 vendors. Come prepared to shop!
Farmer Dave will have potatoes, apples, kale, lettuce, onions, beets, carrots and so much more, as will Kelly’s Farm, who might also still have some sweet corn. Along with apples and veggies, Charlton Orchards will have freshly pressed cider, and don’t forget to stock up on their honey, pasture-raised beef and wonderful wines! And, I know that after this week, I am going to miss the lovely Asian greens, herbs and root veggies from Flats Mentor Farm!

Don’t forget to get some extra packs of Goodies Homemade’s most excellent cookies! Swiss Bakers sent a note to let us know that their products will stay nicely in the freezer for three months, so stock up there, too! I have had great success freezing breads from Mamadou’s Bakery and I am sure many of Cannistraci Fine Foods’ delicious baked goods freeze well, also.
fine chokolader will be bringing their Halloween haunted house and Jack-O-Lantern lollipops, along with all their other chocolate treats. And, yes, we’ll have long-term chocolate storage information available.
You can pick up some soup to stock your freezer from Silky Smoothies, who now offers soup by the cup at the market or to take home, along with their healthy and tasty smoothies.
Don’t miss the wonderful Middle Eastern foods by Samira’s Homemade. I need to find out if any of their products freeze well. If so, I’ll have the info at the Manger Tent.
Except for their mozzarella cheese, all of the products from Fior D’Italia come frozen, so leave room in your freezer for their wonderful pastas and entrees.
Globe Fish/The Fish Lady will, as always, have an amazing selection of fresh seafood. And, to thank their customers here in Wakefield, everything will be 20% off! And, yes, you can freeze the fish, with lean fish benefiting from a dip in salted water first. We’ll have details for you at the market. ALSO: Globe Fish is now signing folks up for holiday deliveries! Stop by with your phone and email contact info.
Both Coutts Specialty Foods and In Good Taste (Pam’s Salsa) will be with us this final market day of our season. Again, be sure to stock up on all of Coutts jams, jellies, and preserves, and stop by Pam’s or the Manager tent for a really quick and easy fish and black bean salsa recipe!
And, West River Creamery WILL be back, as will Ben’s Sugar Shack on this last market day. It is going to be a wonderful and busy day.
PARKING NOTE! Don’t forget! Really! We can use the 1st thirty MBTA parking spaces along North Ave! And, thanks to a generous grant from Mass in Motion, our market is now able to process SNAP/EBT and credit/debit cards.
