The following was provided by the Wakefield Center Neighborhood Association: The Wakefield Center Neighborhood Association will hold its annual Festival by the Lake on Saturday, June 8, from 10am to 4pm on Wakefield’s Lower Common. In case of rain, the Festival will be postponed to Saturday, June 15. The Festival by the Lake promises to be one of the highlights of the Wakefield summer season. With an expected 120 talented artists and crafters exhibiting, numerous local non-profit organizations in attendance, live music from the historic bandstand, delicious food, and 50/50 raffles, it promises to be a memorable day. This week, the resurgent Red Sox kicked off their first home stand of 2013. Last year at this time, a Wakefield resident helped start the season with the National Anthem.
The Red Sox had their 2013 home opener on Monday and beat the Baltimore Orioles, 3-1.
