WWII Veteran Recalls Battles for Guam, Iwo Jima

Lawrence Kirby was a Marine who participated in the battles for Guam, Bougainville, and Iwo Jima, writing the book "Stories from the Pacific" in 2004.

World War II veteran Lawrence Kirby shared his recollections of the World War in the South Pacific Tuesday afternoon as a special guest of the Wakefield Rotary Club.

Kirby published a memoir of his experiences in 2004 entitled "Stories from the Pacific." He joined the Marines at age 18 and served as an advance scout in some of the bloodiest battles of the Pacific campaign - Guam, Bougainville and Iwo Jima.
