What's Up Wakefield? October 25
It's Fright Night in downtown Wakefield. Bring the family down for some Halloween fun.
Good morning, here are some things worth knowing in Wakefield this Thursday, October 25, 2012.
It’s Fright Night Downtown: Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., come down to the Beebe Library to check out the carved pumpkin display outside on the front steps. The pumpkins will be lit starting around 5. People are also invited to bring their own pumpkin to the display before 6 p.m. Also tonight – Chainsaw artist “The Machine Jesse Green” creates a “Wakefield Warrior Pride” sculpture in the Galvin Middle School parking lot from 4 to 7 p.m. in an event sponsored by the Wakefield High School Visual Arts program and with a suggested donation of $5. From 8 to 9:30 p.m. at the Galvin auditorium, the WHS visual arts students present a horror film festival featuring their own work - $5 admission for that.
Earn Your Turkey Road Race: Looking to next month, Active Motion Physical Therapy of Wakefield presents the 3rd annual “Earn Your Turkey” 5K road race around Lake Quannapowitt on Thursday, Nov. 22 at 9 a.m. Proceeds are used to provide scholarships to two Wakefield High School seniors.
Run For Ace: For any marathon runners out there - The Ace Bailey Children’s Foundation has announced that it has one invitational bib left for its 2013 Boston Marathon team. Runners who accept one of these bib numbers commit to raise at least $5,000 for the foundation, which does various projects for hospitalized children.
Cradles To Crayons: State Senator Katherine Clark is working with Cradles to Crayons to help gather donated items for area children. Collection boxes will be at the Greenwood School, 907 Main Street, Wakefield, until tomorrow only. Volunteers are also needed to help sort the items on October 27 at the Melrose Middle School on Lynn Fells Parkway from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call John at 617-722-1206 if you’re interested in volunteering.
